We produce more food per person than ever, but 720 - 811 million people in the world faced hunger in 2020. Our current food system affects groundwater supplies, generates a third of the greenhouse gas emissions and uses up a lot of land which causes disruption of natural ecosystems and a loss of biodiversity (FAO, 2020).
Yes, these statistics are alarming, but how are we contributing towards safer and secure food systems? Given the food insecurities the world faces at the moment, are young minds ready for a challenge to come up with out-of-the-box ideas and solutions on food security and nutrition? Are we motivating to make more sustainable and healthier food choices?
Welcome to the region’s first FoodWise Challenge for schools and universities which is aimed at launching some of the most potent young prodigies for the betterment of the food security ecosystem in our industry, society and the world.
